‘Types of Titus’: Titus Andronicus and Social Justice (BSA Online Event)
Date/Time: 24 March 2023 -5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The BSA is delighted to host this online roundtable.
This roundtable will examine Titus Andronicus as a play historically implicated in the nexus between racial discrimination, sexual violence and political division. With a particular emphasis on the 2023 production held at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, the roundtable will feature a series of short provocations upon Titus in the context of social justice from scholars and practitioners, followed by a panel discussion and an opportunity for audience interventions. This online roundtable forms part of the project ‘Types of Titus’, generously funded by the Universities of Geneva and Exeter.
Organisers Pascale Aebischer (University of Exeter) and Emily Louisa Smith (Université de Genève) will be joined by:
Farah Karim-Cooper (Shakespeare’s Globe / King’s College London)
Harry McCarthy (University of Cambridge)
Chloe Preedy (University of Exeter)
Maria Shmygol (University of Galway)
Victoria Sparey (University of Exeter)
